Moreno Valley Unified School District has launched online registration for new students that will also allow parents to upload required documents. Parents can click here to start the process. Families who do not have internet access or need to pick up or drop off documents may visit the district’s Welcome and Registration Center, located at 23301 Dracaea Avenue. The Welcome and Registration Center is open for drive-thru service Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
New students are defined as those who have never attended a school in the Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD), or those who are returning to the district after leaving and attending a different school district. New students also include incoming Transitional Kindergartners (TK), and Kindergartners.
All new students must complete registration via the registration-on-the-go or the no-contact online registration method. The following documents are required to register:
- Birth certificate or other verification of age (passport, adoption papers, baptismal record, etc.)
- Complete immunization (shot) record
- Current verification of residency
- Current physical examination for Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First graders
The California Department of Education has not authorized districts to grant waivers for immunizations. We recognize that doctor visits have been suspended for immunizations and physicals due to COVID-19. Please complete all other requirements and consult the Welcome and Registration personnel regarding additional time limits.
New enrollees who currently live outside of the school district boundaries, must obtain an approved inter-district transfer from their home district before beginning the process of enrolling at MVUSD. Once the transfer has also been approved by MVUSD; please contact the MVUSD Welcome and Registration Center at (951) 571-7690 and the Enrollment Technician will instruct you on the next step.
If an inter-district transfer is denied, the home district will send a notification letter and provide detailed information on options, including appeals. MVUSD does not have any decision-making abilities regarding the home district’s denial of inter-district transfer. Appeals must be directed to the home district and the Riverside County Office of Education.
Inter-district permits must be renewed each school year. While school district offices are currently closed, the deadline for submitting and renewals was March 13. However, the district will address permits on a case-by-case basis.
For students who want to transfer from one school to a different school within the Moreno Valley Unified School District, the deadline was March 13. Approval letters will be mailed to homes on or before May 20, 2020. Requests submitted after March 13, 2020 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
